Karina Jetten is 38 years old. She is born in the Netherlands, but she lives in Berneau, Belgium. In 2006 she received a wildcard vfor the World Championship 3cushion for women and since then she is playing only 3cushion.

1. At the last National, European and World Championship you were the number 2nd. Is it frustrated for you that you were the number 2nd of all those tournaments or does is only makes you stronger?

Yes, it is wright that I became at all these tournament the number 2nd. For me it is not frustrated, because I know that there are many good players at these tournaments. Before a tournament I look at who are playing, in which group I am, Am I in a good shape or not, all these kind of things. So I also did before these tournaments and I saw that there are some players who are better then me. So I don't think it is realistic to think that I can win. I was in a very good shape at these 3 tournaments and that's why I became 2nd. If I could sign for it before the tournaments, I would, so I am very happy with it.

2. Since Christ van der Smissen has been your teacher, your play grow. What is the best thing you learned from him?

Because of my practise with Christ, my play grow fast in a very short time. I have a better average and I win more games. I see more positions and more solutions. Christ teached me to look at all the solutions there are possible and then to choose the one that is the best at that moment.

3. Because you play better now, you receive an A-Status from the Dutch Olympic Federation for a few years now. How did this A-Status changed your life, private and sportif?

Yes, I have it since 2007. Privately there are not many changes. I just need to plan everything more, like my practise, private life and my work. But if I do that wright, there is no problem. It also gave me the change to work less, so I can practise more. That's why I play much better now. I also have disciplin to go out for practise 3 or 4 times a week. If I keep up with tis all, I hope I will grow even more with my billiards in the future.

4. Do you think you have got in in you to get on the same level as Orie Hida or Therese Klompenhouwer or even better?

If I am realistic, I can not say if I can get up to their level. They play 3cushion for many more years and they have more experience. That's their advantage. But I will do everything to get as far as they are, but if I will make it....?

5. What kind of changes would you like to see if you look at women billiards?

Women billiards often doesn't count and that's too bad. If you look at how the Dutch female players perform at International Championships, then it really has to change. The Dutch federation does not spent much money and attention towards the women. But we need that attention and money to grow, so that really has to change.
